SANCTUARY MASTER POST
 | •SANCTUARY•
Sanctuary is located south of Bavan and is bisected by the main road, leaving no way to pass it other than diverting the path or flying over it. It was established during the month of August by Handsome Jack via Tikbalang, and is home to both monsters and humans alike. Handsome Jack is the residing mayor of the town, though he will always remind anyone who asks that mayors are elected and that he prefers other titles (such as "monarch", "king", or "CEO"). The town is constantly guarded by Nisha Kadam's crew of Rough Riders, as well as Nisha herself.
Sanctuary is what its name implies: a safe haven that offers protection from prowling monsters or crazed Night God cultists...or so everyone will tell you. The reality is that Sanctuary is a business operation behind the curtains. Humans seem to move in on their own and rarely as families, though an occasional family may find their way there. Currently, the town is largely under construction with help from the locals and a few contracted monsters in exchange for reduced rent. It is currently receiving a paint job as well as an overall facelift in architecture. The fashion in Sanctuary is different from the rest of Ryslig and is closer to more modern steampunk than the other two major towns, influenced by Handsome Jack himself. No human appears out of place or at a different poverty level than any other human or family. It gives the appearance of a dress code, though its not specifically stated in the laws. Its heavily implied that there is a certain expectation that people living there are required to maintain. The people in charge might not scold you, but you'll definitely get some looks from the locals if you aren't dressed in the Latest in Sanctuary Fashion. No human in town ever appears unhappy when they are talking about Sanctuary...unless you happen to be insulting their great ruler in front of them. Any human that overhears someone talking poorly about Handsome Jack and/or his associates will get scowled at or find the humans hastily attempting to get away as fast as possible Not that that's out of the ordinary or anything. After all, he does so much for them! Right? Better not ask too many questions. |  |
| •LAW AND ORDER•
Crime and punishment is something taken very seriously in the town of Sanctuary. Though most humans can recite the list of laws off the top of their head, there is a parchment posted in front of Town Hall displaying all the expectations of those living in Sanctuary. They are as follows:
1. No littering 2. No stealing 3. No dogs 4. Respect property boundaries: if it ain't yours, don't go in. 5. No eating the locals: anyone that does gets shot on sight. Till dead. Then evicted.* All laws are generally subject to jail time in Sanctuary's personal jail, overseen by acting sheriff, Nisha Kadam. If the crime is a repeat offense or severe enough (such as killing part of Sanctuary's human population), the crime may be subject to death. If there is a star next to the law above and your character is in danger of breaking said law, please speak Kay or Avali before proceeding as it could result in severe IC consequences. | |

> Yup! Jack has brainwashed all the humans to maintain a level of high steampunk fashion, with a mixture of business casual. Nobody's going to force that on your character, but they will get looks from the citizens if they don't look like they belong. If anyone were looking to open up a clothing store in Sanctuary, it would need to sell these sorts of outfits and nothing else.

> Of course they can, any time they'd like! My only request is that you get in contact with either myself or Avali in some fashion before you move forward, as we like to plan and keep everyone informed before things go nuts!

> Town Hall is currently Jack's giant estate at the back end of the town. Its foyer doubles as a meeting space and is often transformed into it by Jack on request. If you'd like to do something with it, feel free to ask!

> For the most part, yes. The rent is pretty steep if you aren't getting a discount from Jack though, so its usually better to touch base before trying to move in. The houses are big enough for four monsters to live slightly cramped, but will expand in the future. Feel free to double up!

Human citizens of Sanctuary will mutter about "that odd little medicine man" whenever they're talking about the clinic due to his non-conformity. Some of the more suspicious, monster-cautious citizens will avoid it entirely.

Whether or not Lydia wants to adhere to the dress code is of course entirely up to you. There's no real consequence for not doing it except that Sanctuary citizens might look at her funny when she walks around.
Have fun! Gonna go ahead and delete this comment later today so I can add you to the list. In about three months, Jack will start asking for rent which should be plenty affordable with the job if she ends up with it. I'll PM you if Lydia ends up with any roommates.
